William Diehl, Jr., was born on October 4, 1944 in Norfolk, Va., but attended high school in Kinston, N.C., and completed his undergraduate degree at UNC. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1969 and practiced in Charlotte, first, as a general practice attorney and then primarily a litigator. He discusses a civil rights case involving police brutality from early in his career and later important cases including the defense of Richard Dortch, who was connected to the PTL Scandal. Diehl shares thoughts about trial tactics, family law practice, and the state of the legal profession.
