Daniel T. Blue, Jr., was born in 1949 and raised in Robeson County, N.C. In this interview he discusses his upbringing during segregation and the challenges his family faced. He received his undergraduate degree in math from N.C. Central University and attended law school at Duke University. After law school, he practiced tort litigation in Raleigh. He reflects on a few cases during his career including litigation related to the first wide-body jet crash and appeals related to racial discrimination in the N.C. Agricultural Extension Service. He describes being elected to N.C. House of Representatives in 1980 and his experience serving as Speaker of the House.
