Daniel Joshua “DJ” Walker, Jr., was born in Scotland County, N.C., and raised in Burlington, N.C. He finished college at UNC in 1936, joined the U.S. Army, served overseas in Europe during World War II and achieved a rank of captain, and then graduated from UNC School of Law in 1948. He was elected and served as clerk of superior court from 1948 to 1953 in Alamance County, N.C., and then transitioned into private practice, later working as the county attorney for Alamance. He speaks about what he sees as changes in the practice of law over the course of his career.
